Bus driver dies of heart attack, but saves passengers’ lives

Timely action by the driver and conductor of a private bus prevented a major accident near Lakkanahalli in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district on Friday.

The driver, Nagaraj (56), struggled to control the bus as he got chest pain but he managed to stop the vehicle at the edge of a deep pit with the help of the conductor, Maruthi, near Lakkanahalli.

The driver had suffered heart attack and died on the way to hospital. But he managed to save the lives of around 20 passengers who were travelling in the bus.

The bus was coming towards Sira from Amarapura in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh.
