Three killed as bus catches fire near Hubballi

Three persons were killed after a private bus caught fire at Varur near Hubballi on National Highway No. 4 on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police of Dharwad Darmender Kumar Meena said the incident was reported at 5.30 am and fire broke out from the rear side of nonAC sleeper coach bus. In all 18 persons were travelling by the bus including two drivers and a cleaner.

The identity of the deceased has not been established yet as the bodies were charred beyond recognition.

The cause for the fire is bring ascertained he said.

Of the 9 injured persons the condition of three is critical and they have been shifted to KLE hospital in Belagavi.

The remaining are getting treated at KIMS Hospital Hubballi.
