BSF jawan from Kolar dies in Assam

K.R. Rajesh, Border Security Force (BSF) jawan hailing from a village in Kolar passed away on Friday in Assam, where he was deployed.

The news about his death has created anxiety among locals, who believe he was also killed in the crossfire with the Bodo extremists at Kokrajhar. Fourteen were reported dead in the incident.

Hundreds of people flocked to Rajesh’s residence at Kittandur in Kolar taluk as the news was aired continuously on some TV channels.

Shattered family

The death came as a bolt from the blue for the poor family of Rajesh. Twenty-four-year-old Rajesh was the last of the three sons of Ramaiah and Ramakka, both of whom work as labourers. The financial condition

of the family started to improve only after Rajesh joined the CRPF three years ago.

Now his untimely and sudden death has left the family shell shocked.

Rajesh studied up to SSLC in Sabaramathi High School at nearby Sugatur and completed PUC at Government Pre University College, Kolar. Later he joined the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF).

Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra said Rajesh’s body flown from Assam at 6 p.m. and arrive at Kempegowda International Airport at 10.45 p.m.
