H.D. Basavaraj, former Janata Dal (Secular) MLA, has demanded that both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party release a White Paper on developmental works taken up during their tenure in the Hyderabad Karnataka region.

Addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Monday, Mr. Basavaraj said that the Congress and BJP should come out with the White Paper on the development work in region. He alleged that the previous governments in the State had neglected the region.

Though the Congress government has been successful in bringing amendment to Article 371(J) of the Constitution to remove regional imbalances, Mr. Basavaraj said that the amendment has not served the purpose to the expectations.

Underutilised funds

The Hyderabad Karnataka Region Developmental Board (HKRDB) has failed to utilise the funds released by the State government every year. Also, the implementing agencies and departments were lethargic in spending the funds released by the board, he added.
