‘Bopaiah a puppet in the hands of vested interests’

January 28, 2013 08:28 am | Updated 08:28 am IST - Tumkur:

G.S. Basavaraj, MP and supporter of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, has said that the legislators are independent to resign from their posts. To thwart their attempt, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly K.G. Bopaiah had left on a tour.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Basavaraj alleged that Mr. Bopaiah has become a puppet in the hands of some “vested interests”.

Mr. Basavaraj claimed that Governor H.R. Bhardwaj had expressed his dissatisfaction over the recent political developments in the State when he met to him at the Raj Bhavan recently.

Mr. Basavaraj said that the Governor opined that when the Speaker was going out of State on a tour he should have given the power to accept resignations to somebody else.

‘Will not resign’

He said that there was no question him resigning as MP as he still had one-and-a-half year term. If the BJP wants, it can take action against him and he was ready to face it, Mr .Basavaraj said.

He said he has written a letter to Lokayukta to conduct an enquiry regarding the encroachment of Amanikere tank and Maralur tank in Tumkur taluk.

He alleged that the district administration was not taking action against the encroachers.
