A court in Mysuru has ordered the police to register an FIR against former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and three others in an alleged land scam in Mysuru.

Based on a complaint filed by N. Gangaraju, a resident of Kuvempunagar in Mysuru, the Principal Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate in Mysuru has ordered the Lakshmipuram police to book a case against Mr. Siddaramaiah, Commissioner of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) P.S. Kantharaju, and former MUDA chairpersons C. Basave Gowda and D. Dhruvakumar.

In his complaint, Mr. Gangaraju alleged that the City Improvement Trust Board, as MUDA was earlier called, acquired several acres of land in Mysuru taluk, including areas coming under Hinkal, in 1981 for developing Vijaynagar 2nd Stage Layout and even allotted sites to beneficiaries in 1988.

But in 1997, when Mr. Siddaramaiah was the Deputy Chief Minister, three owners of land measuring about 30 guntas under survey number 70/4 B in Hinkal area, including Sakamma, obtained an endorsement from the MUDA stating that their land had not been acquired by the authority. Ms. Sakamma subsequently filed an application before the Deputy Commissioner and secured conversion of the land from agricultural to non-agricultural purpose “in a span of 20 days”, the complaint said.

Later, Ms. Sakamma sold 10 guntas of the land to Mr. Siddaramaiah, who obtained approval from MUDA to build a house, but the construction encroached upon the adjacent MUDA land also, the complainant alleged and added that Mr. Siddaramaiah later sold the house in 2003.
