Bomb hoax at Mysuru palace

January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - MYSURU:

The city police went into a tizzy following information that explosives had been planted in the parking lot of the famed Mysuru palace.

Soon after the palace control room received a call around 2 p.m. on Friday, senior officials of the city police rushed to the spot along with sniffer dogs and a bomb disposal squad.

Thorough search

After a thorough search did not reveal any explosives, the police termed it a hoax. However, tourists visiting the palace were not affected.

The hoax call, however, comes amid preparations for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The City police had stepped up security in Mysuru in the wake of the blast on Church Street in Bengaluru on December 28 and carried out elaborate anti-sabotage operations at not only bus stands, railway stations, but also on major roads, shopping complexes and places of tourist importance, including the palace.
