The body of a daily-wage worker of Tumkur University, who had physical disabilities, was found on Saturday near the railway track between Hirehalli and Kyatsandra on the outskirts of Tumakuru city.

The police said that the deceased was identified as Shivakumar (31) of Katigenahalli village in Tumakuru taluk. The police suspect that he might have committed suicide on Friday. He is survived by his wife and two children.

He had actively participated in the agitation against the construction of a solid-waste disposal plant near Ajjagondanahalli.

The agitators, who have been staging a protest for the past few weeks against the construction of the plant near Ajjagondanahalli, will now stage a protest demonstration by keeping the body on the premises of Tumakuru City Municipal Corporation and the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday evening.

The agitators alleged that he was Shivakumar was upset that the price of his one-and-half acres of land near Ajjagondanahalli, where the disposal plant is to be set up, had come down.
