The Bharatiya Janata Party district unit has organised Raitha Chaitanya Yatra from Monday to September 13 from Haveri to Mysuru to instil confidence among farmers in the State and to pressure the government to find permanent solution to people’s problems, BJP district unit president T.G. Narendranath has said.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that two separate teams had been formed under the leadership of BJP national vice-president B.S. Yeddyurappa and State president and MP Prahlad Joshi to organise the yatra. The yatra would enter Chitradurga district on September 1 at Nayakanhatti in Challakere taluk at 4 p.m. Mr. Yeddyurappa would address the farmers and also hear the grievances of farmers.
On September 2, a public gathering would be held at Nehru grounds at Hiriyur at 10 a.m. and at 3 p.m. the programme would be held at SJM college grounds at Hosadurga. G.H. Tippareddy, MLA, said that the district faced a drought situation and the State and Central teams are visiting the district to study the situation. BJP district general secretary K.S. Naveen, G.M. Sudesh, Sriram Reddy and Mohan were present.
