BJP to decide on fielding 3 MLAs facing charges

April 14, 2013 09:41 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:13 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to take a final call on whether to give ticket to contest the Assembly elections to the three MLAs facing charges — Y. Sampangi (KGF), Katta Subramanya Naidu (Hebbal) and S.N. Krishnaiah Setty (Malur) — on Sunday.

Though the party top leaders had a round of discussion on Saturday night, they could not arrive at a conclusion. Party national president Rajnath Singh is said to have advised the State leaders to keep these three personalities out of the poll contest. But some of the State leaders are reportedly of the view that it would be difficult to win the elections in these three constituencies without the cooperation of these MLAs.

BJP top leaders have decided to take up the issue for discussion in the presence of the party’s key strategist Arun Jaitley, who will visit Bangalore on Sunday.

Third list on Sunday

Meanwhile, the BJP is expected to release its third list of candidates, comprising at least 35 names, on Sunday afternoon.
