BJP protests against Congress governance

February 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - BELAGAVI:

The Bharatiya Janata Party has urged Governor Vajubhai Vala to advise the Congress government to take corrective measures to put governance on the right track.

Officer-bearers and workers staged a demonstration on Sunday at Rani Channamma Circle and, later, in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner to protest against the alleged failure of the government to check increasing crime against women, provide adequate succour to the farmers and implement development work.

The leaders alleged that Karnataka was earning a bad name due to presence of terrorists.

They alleged that several Ministers failed to deliver on their promises. The government had done very little to provide succour to the farmers reeling under severe drought conditions, particularly in north Karnataka region.

The farmers were protesting seeking an early solution to the Mahadayi water distpute, while sugarcane growers in Belagavi were urging for loan waiver and payment of sugarcane price dues.
