BJP opposes move to name Haj Bhavan after Tipu

The BJP has opposed Minister for Minority Welfare B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan’s reported move to name the State Haj Bhavan, near Kempegowda International Airport, after Tipu Sultan.

“The previous government created social unrest by celebrating Tipu Sultan Jayanti. The new government should resist any such attempts at eulogising Tipu,” said Shobha Karandlaje, MP, and BJP general secretary.

She claimed that the Congress fared poorly in Karnataka because of its decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti.
