The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seriously considering boycotting “tainted” ministers including Home Minister K.J. George, Municipal Administration and Waqf Minister Qamarul Islam, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and Cooperation Minister H.S. Mahadev Prasad who face charges of encroachments and illegal allotment of houses and sites.

State President of the BJP Prahlad Joshi and National Vice-President of the party B.S. Yeddyurappa said that a decision on boycotting the “tainted” Ministers during the winter session of the assembly at Belagavi would be taken in the legislature party meeting scheduled on November 20. Mr Joshi said that the BJP, besides submitting a memorandum demanding action against Ministers to the Governor Vajubhai Vala, will stage a dharna in front of the Gandhi Statue on November 20.

They said that the state is facing a serious financial crisis and the government was not releasing funds even for maintenance of roads and other development works in the state. “We demand that the state government comes out with a white paper on the financial situation of the state”.

Mr. Joshi and Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the party would also come out with a chargesheet on the state government pinpointing the failures of the state government to take up development works in the Hyderabad Karnataka region on November 27 when the government holds a cabinet meeting in Gulbarga city. The BJP legislators and MPs would be holding a protest demonstration in Gulbarga city on November 27 to highlight the neglect of the region by the state government and the empty promises made by the government.
