The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate keeping in view the development works taken up by him in Gujarat, Janardhan Swamy, MP, said.

Addressing a programme organised to celebrate Mr. Modi’s nomination, here on Saturday, he said the motive behind the declaration was to ensure that the Gujarat model of development was emulated in all States. He said though Mr. Modi was a secular person who gave equal opportunities and facilities to people of every community, vested interests were trying to project him as anti-Muslim in order to spoil his political career.

People should not pay attention to such allegations and should support BJP for the overall development of the nation, he said.

The Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), which has commended the move, has agreed to extend its support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the coming Lok Sabha elections, he said. The workers and supporters of both the BJP and the KJP should make efforts to win maximum number of seats in the elections in Karnataka, he said.
