Jubilant over the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the civic elections to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the results of which were declared on Tuesday, party workers celebrated by bursting crackers at Rani Channamma Circle in the city. They shouted slogans in the name of party and its leaders.

Cutting of

trees opposed

Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Pariwar has strongly opposed the move of the Forest Department to cut over 500 trees on the Vaccine Institute premises at a time when the government has decided to develop the premises into a heritage park. Cutting of trees at the institute, which was the only rich green patch and home for various flora and fauna, would adversely impact the city’s environment, said Pariwar president Sujit Mulgund, who submitted a memorandum on this to the Deputy Commissioner here on Tuesday.
