Kulashekara S. Chakravarthy switches with ease between his profession of marketing executive with the State Bank of India, Mysore, and hobby of bird photography.
His love for nature and birds led him to take up bird photography seriously. 25 years ago, he took the decision to photograph the winged beauties and to document them for posterity.
His passion for photographing birds in their natural environment has taken him to distant and remote parts of India. and the results have been remarkable.
Mr. Chakravarthy has photographed over 700 rare species of birds such as the Pied Thrush, Red-necked Phalarope and the Thick Billed Green Pigeon.
The works will be displayed at his first photo exhibition titled ‘Nature through lens’ to be held at Green Shop, New Kantharaje Urs Road, Saraswathipuram, from December 20 to 22.
The exhibition is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“The exhibition will feature around 50 of the best photographs I have shot over 25 years,” he said.
For a professional banker who has to meet targets , Mr. Chakravarthy is unfazed and pursues his passion for it energises him.
“I shoot between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. everyday before heading to work. During weekends, I cover local sites like Kukkarahalli, Lingambudhi, H.D. Hote Road Bandipur, Nagarahole, and BRT wildlife sanctuary. Every year I try and take a trip to other places in India to photograph exotic species, and have visited Bharatpur, Rann of Kutch, and Chambal. I have been able to capture some rare birds during my visists to these places,” he says.
