The Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Bill 2012, was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday to increase the monthly pension payable for former members of the Assembly and Council from Rs 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 35,000.
The Bill envisages increase in the monthly pension from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 to a person who served as a member of either house of the legislature for a period of five years (one term).
It envisages increase in the monthly pension from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 35,000 to a person who served as a member of either house of the legislature for two and more than two terms.
The Bill also provides medical allowance of Rs. 2,000 per month former MLAs and MLXCs and reimbursement of actual expenses by train in India subject to a maximum of Rs. one lakh to ex-members who are in receipt of pension.
The proposed amendment would incur expenditure of Rs. 17.43 crore to the State exchequer a year.

Land Reforms Bill:
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda tabled the Karnataka Land Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2012, to include agro-based industries and food processing activities in the agricultural sector and provide private agricultural lands to agro-based industries and marketing activities on a lease for a long period.
The Bill would not incur any financial expenses to the State government.
