The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will introduce Flybus to connect Mysore with the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) twice a day from August 14.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the BIAL and the KSRTC recently, said a release from the KSRTC.

The air-conditioned multi-axle coach will have chemical toilet, pantry, comfortable seats with television screens on each seat offering over 70 live channels, video-on-demand through Wi-Fi, display of real-time arrival and departure of flights at BIA. The flybus can be tracked through Global Positioning System.

BIA-Mysore services depart at 9.45 a.m. and 9.45 p.m.. to reach Mysore at 1.45 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. respectively. The Mysore-BIA services depart at 2 p.m. and 2 a.m. to reach BIA at 6 p.m. and 5.45 a.m. respectively. The fare is Rs. 1,000 even as the corporation intends to serve dry snacks and hot beverages to passengers inside the bus.

KSRTC Managing Director N. Manjunatha Prasad said advance bookings could be done on as well as on other channel partners, Make My Trip, redBus and Via.

He said: “We are confident that this service will be a hit among travellers from Mysore. We find there are a few categories of travellers like those who travel alone and are forced to take a taxi costing over Rs. 4,000. If they take public transport, they are forced to change at least two vehicles to reach either the airport or Mysore. Both these issues are taken care of by introducing the Flybus service.” A dedicated departure facility is provided at the Mysore bus station and at the BIA to facilitate easy commutation.
