Bhaskar Rao should have resigned: ex-MLA

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - Hassan:

The former MLA A.T. Ramaswamy, here on Saturday, said that Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao should have resigned the moment allegations regarding his family’s involvement in corruption first came out.

“He should have not continued in the position till now. The charges that his son face are quite serious in nature,” he said in a press conference here on Saturday.

In the past, he said that Shivaraj Patil was also appointed to the post but he also resigned as soon as a case of him owning a site in a judicial layout came out.

“Interestingly, Mr. Rao also possesses a site in the same layout. Allotment of sites in the layout meant for judicial employees is illegal. He should not have been chosen for the position as he also faced allegation similar to what Shivaraj Patil faced,” he said.

The charges against his son are serious, says A.T. Ramaswamy
