Bengaluru-based techie alleges police torture

B.N. Deepti, native of a village near Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and working as a software engineer in Bengaluru, has alleged that she was tortured by the police, including a woman constable.

Ms. Deepti told reporters here on Tuesday that woman constable Alifa and head constable Prabhu, both attached to Gulpet Station in Kolar, had subjected her to torture when they took her in connection with a complaint filed against her recently by an individual.

“The police picked me up forcibly on January 16 from Bengaluru residence. They took me in a car belonging to one Bonus Reddy who had filed the complaint against me”, Ms. Deepti said.

Both the police personnel along with Mr. Reddy beat me in the car. Mr. Prabhu even sexually harassed me in the vehicle during travelling while Ms. Alifa beat me with the lathi in the station, she alleged.

Following the injuries she got herself got admitted at a hospital where she was treated for three days.

Ms. Deepti has filed a complaint with Superintendent of Police, Ajay Hilori seeking action against the police personnel.
