The body of a 15-year-old student from Bengaluru, who was reportedly missing since Wednesday, was found in a lake in Guruvayanakere near Dharmastala on Thursday.

According to Belthangady police, some persons discovered the school bag of Yashwanth Sai K.P., Class 10 student of ITI Vidya Mandir of Dooravani Nagar, abandoned by the side of the lake on Wednesday evening. The police rushed to the spot along with fire and emergency services personnel and searched the lake using boats. On Thursday the police fished out Yashwanth’s body from the lake.

The police said the boy reportedly reached Belthangady on Wednesday morning and then got into a private bus going to Udupi. He has got down near the lake in Guruvayanakere and ended his life by jumping into the water.

The police said the boy’s father, Premkumar N.V, a resident of Hoodi near Bengaluru, filed a missing complaint with Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura police station on Wednesday. He came to Guruvayanakere on Thursday morning and went away with the body of his son.
