BEML’s flowery gift to KGF

Those who cannot visit the Republic Day flower show at Lalbagh in Bengaluru this year have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of flowers and vegetables in Kolar. The flower and vegetable show organised by the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) unit of the Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) at BEML Nagar is attracting hundreds of people. Inaugurated on January 23, the show will continue till January 27.

BEML has continued the tradition of organising its flower and vegetable show on the eve of Republic Day and Independence Day. The BEML establishment at KGF is participating in the Lalbagh show too and has a record of winning a prize 17 times in the past.

Thousands of plants of button marigold, sunflower, asper, bougainvillea, and a wide variety of roses are on display.

According to BEML Estate division chief Sudarshan, a number of plants such as palak , sabbakki , pudina , doddapatre , coriander, ragi , toor , beans, sajje , and wheat were grown in the pots and were kept on display. Plants with medicinal properties such as thumbe, kashi soppu, kirunelli , and aloe vera are attractions of the show.

The names of the plants and flowers have been displayed both in English and Kannada for the convenience of the public. The show will be open for the public from 12.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
