The District Congress Committee (DCC) has criticised the Minister for APMC, Haj and Wakf, and district in-charge S.K. Bellubbi for not mentioning anything about his ministry in the speech he delivered during the 64th Republic Day celebrations in Bijapur on Saturday.

DCC general secretary Hashimpir Walekar has said that Mr. Bellubbi has shown how much concern he has about his own ministry by not mentioning it in his speech.

Mr. Walekar said that Wakf and Haj ministries were purely related to the Muslim community, but Mr. Bellubbi did not mention anything about the welfare schemes launched or planned for the minority community.

He said that the Minister, during his speech mentioned about several departments, funds given by the government and welfare schemes launched for the beneficiaries, but he did not say anything about his own ministry, which was not only unfortunate but also shows the attitude of the Minister toward the minorities.

Demand for details

The Minister should have mentioned how much funds the government has released to these departments and its status, Mr. Walekar said.

He added that Mr. Bellubbi should tender an unconditional apology and release a press statement giving details about the measures taken up by his department for the welfare of the people of the minority communities.
