Deputy Commissioner and in-charge Chief Executive Officer of Belagavi Zilla Panchayat N. Jayaram ordered withdrawal of the allegedly illegal transfers and deputations made in the district education department made by former Deputy Director of Public Instructions Diwakar Shetty.

The decision to this effect was taken at the ordinary meeting of the ZP here on Wednesday when the house member Parameshwar Hosamani posed questions on the unwillingness of the concerned authorities to take action on the detailed report with concrete documentary evidences showing large scale irregularities committed by Mr. Shetty. He had submitted a list of 11 irregularities, including financial irregularities worth cores of rupees to the ZP three months ago.

“Though everything was clear and irregularities were ascertained, I failed to understand what prevented the CEO to initiate action against the DDPI and cancel his illegal orders, who and why he is protecting the guilty,” he said.

Responding to the issue Mr. Jayaram ordered withdrawal of all transfers and deputations done by Mr. Shetty. He informed the house that charges had been framed against Mr. Shetty and sent to the government for appropriate action.
