“One should be wise while using social media, because it is being widely misused for trafficking women,” said Manjula Manasa, chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, while addressing the International Women’s Day programme and annual day celebrations of Government College for Women here on Saturday.
Urging young women not to be “carried away by flimsy allurements” and “not spoil their lives forever by falling prey to such attractions,” Ms. Manasa also counselled the students to make use of advancements in technology to achieve academic excellence and for empowerment in life. “Women can realise their dreams only if they chose the right path, else they will perish,” she warned.
She called upon girl students to strive towards preventing atrocities against women in society.
Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra asked students to stay away from easily available gadgets of distraction. “The future depends on your academic performance,” he said.
