The election of new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (Bangalore city corporation) will be held on April 23, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday.

BJP gained majority in the recent BBMP elections, which paved way for hoisting the saffron flag for the first time in the Mahanagara Palike.

Gearing up for the upcoming Gram Panchayat polls scheduled to be held next month, Yeddyurappa told reporters here that the BJP Legislature Party will meet in Bangalore on April 15 to chalkout strategy for the party’s victory.

Referring to the power crisis in the state, Mr. Yeddyurappa told reporters that he would shortly meet the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde urging for ensuring adequate power supply.

Within May 15 the state will get 600 MW power from Udupi and 250 MW from Raichur power plant, he said.
