Bathrooms are bigger than bedrooms in guesthouses, IB bungalows: Shettar

He takes PWD engineers to task for ‘faulty design’

July 24, 2014 10:19 am | Updated 10:19 am IST - BANGALORE:

The bathrooms are bigger than the living room and the bedrooms in guesthouses and inspection bungalows (IB) built and maintained by the Public Works Department in district headquarters and the State capital, according to Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar. Speaking on the demands of the PWD in the Assembly on Wednesday, Mr. Shettar said: “Bathrooms are bigger than bedrooms in guest houses and circuit houses owing to the faulty design by engineers of the Architecture Department of the PWD.”

Mr. Shettar said the designs were poor and that the engineers spent a huge amount of money. PWD engineers painted buildings green and called them “green buildings”. But, buildings were not built as per eco-friendly norms.

In Bangalore city, bungalows were built without providing sufficient space for ventilation.
