Bank job aspirants take out rally

May 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Ballari:

Bank job aspirants and students undergoing coaching in banking took out a procession here on Saturday demanding that the authorities concerned accord priority to candidates who have studied in Kannada while recruiting to regional rural banks. The rally was taken out in association with the district-unit of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike.

In a memorandum submitted to Chairman Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank, headquartered in Ballari and also to the Deputy Commissioner, they have expressed concern over the removal of a particular clause by the Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) during the year 2015-16 that stated that candidates who had studied Kannada (regional language) in Class 10 and 12 were eligible for recruitment for the posts of officers and clerks.

According to them, this would severely affect job aspirants from the State as people from other States would take away the benefits.
