A total bandh was observed in Tumakuru city and protest marches were carried out by several organisations on Saturday.

Shops, hotels, cinema theatres and other commercial establishments have been closed and KSRTC buses, private buses, autorickshaws and other vehicles remained off the road.

The bandh call was given by pro-Kannada organisations including the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Kannada Sene, Karunadu Rakshana Vedike, and Jaya Karnataka.

The agitators carried out a two-wheeler rally on the streets of Tumakuru city, raising slogans against the Tamil Nadu government and its Chief Minister.
