The early response to the district-wide bandh call given by Belagavi Bar Association (BBA), to exert pressure on the state government to announce establishment of Karnataka Administrative Tribunal’s bench in the city was partial on Wednesday, even as miscreants pelted stones at three NWKRTC buses near central bus station and also damaged an auto-rickshaw in Autonagar in the city.
The bus services, including in the city and other parts of the district remained unaffected in the morning hours. While schools and colleges were opened, the school van drivers did not turn up to pick and drop the children to the schools. Some shops close to court complex remained close.
Meanwhile, the indefinite hunger strike launched by four advocates on Monday entered third day. The health condition of senior advocates Murugendragouda Patil and former BBA president Anil G. Mulwadmath was showing signs of deterioration, said acting president of BBA, B.S. Hiremath and Ramesh Deshpande are two other young advocates who are also on fast.
The advocates, who launched fresh agitation in the form of dharna , continued to boycott court works in the city and all the ten taluks since Nov 17.
