Ballari district to have three more taluks

March 16, 2017 12:33 am | Updated 12:33 am IST - BALLARI

People in the district are hopeful again that their pending demand of getting three more taluks will be realised following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah making an announcement with regard to the same in his budget speech on Wednesday.

They are also hopeful that the CM will take all care to ensure that the three new taluks – Kurgodu, Kottur and Kampli – would be established in the current year to allay doubts that the announcement would remain on paper. This is because similar announcements were made in earlier budget speeches too.

Mr. Siddaramaiah’s announcement of ₹150 crore for supplementing water to the Malvi dam in Hagari Bommanahalli taluk has also been widely welcomed. The demand was another pending one that did not see any tangible progress.

The CM has earmarked ₹25 crore each for the development of Kannada University, in its silver jubilee year, and also to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Science (VIMS). He has also announced the formation of the Mylaara Development Authority and earmarking ₹5 crore, ₹1 crore being set aside for sheep development at government’s Kurekuppe farm in Sandur taluk.

K.C. Kondaiah, MLC, has thanked Mr. Siddaramaiah for his decision to create three new taluks in the district. Similarly, Bheema Naik, Hagari Bommanahalli MLA, has expressed his approval over the CM according priority for supplementing water to Malvi dam.
