A Bajrang Dal worker died reportedly after he fell off his two-wheeler near Arsikere on Wednesday night. While the police called it an accident, family members of the deceased and his friends have suspected it to be a case of murder. Sunil (28) was returning to his house at Arsikere from Markanahalli, where he had been to visit his relatives, when he met with the accident around 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the police.
The police, after analysing the scene of the incident, said he seemed to have lost control of the two-wheeler while negotiating a pothole and fell. The vehicle fell to his left. He also suffered serious injuries in his left shoulder and head. The police suspected that he died of serious head injury. Preliminary analysis of the scene suggests that he died in the accident. The damages caused to the two-wheeler and injuries on his body show that it was a clear case of accident, police said.
However, family members and friends have alleged that it was a case of murder. They claim that Sunil was actively involved in Bajrang Dal activities and because of that, someone must have murdered him. Sunil’s father Ranganath, a former member of Arsikere City Municipal Council, has filed a complaint with Arsikere Rural Police. Suspecting it to be a murder, the complainant has demanded a post-mortem at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences in Hassan. The police have made arrangements to shift the body to Hassan.
A case has been registered on charges of rash driving causing hurt or injury (Sec 279 of IPC) and causing death by negligence (304 A of the IPC).
