A 31-year-old autorickshaw driver, who is said to be involved in some criminal cases, was hacked to death in front of his wife and child near a petrol bunk at Moodshedde here on Friday afternoon.
According to Mangaluru Rural police, Charan (31), a resident of Capitanio, was returning with his wife and child after meeting his mother at Moodshedde. As he came near the petrol bunk, a few persons came in a multi-utility vehicle and blocked his way around 1 p.m. They dragged him out of the vehicle and assaulted him with sharp weapons. As he collapsed to the ground, the assailants left the place.
The police said that Charan was brought to a private hospital here where he died. His wife has filed a complaint against seven persons. The police said that they have launched a search.
