The police have launched a search for the man who attacked the 44-year-old Corporation Bank manager Jyothi Uday inside an ATM kiosk here on Tuesday. Eight teams have been formed.

Police Commissioner Raghavendra H. Auradkar said here on Wednesday that some of the teams would also go to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala to track him down. The police have circulated the CCTV footage to all police stations in the State, as the attacker could have left the city.

As the assailant took away Ms. Jyothi Uday’s mobile phone, a senior police official said that efforts were on to trace his [assailant’s] location by tracking the device. He said that the footage had provided ample clues and expressed the hope that the assailant would be arrested soon. The official said that 32 ATM kiosk-related crimes had been reported in the city this year, of which 28 had been detected.

Citing the CCTV footage, the police said that it appeared to be an attack to rob her of her valuables.

The police are investigating if the assailant had an associate who may have kept guard outside the kiosk. They are also studying the footage captured by the traffic cameras installed near the Corporation Circle. S.J. Park police officials said that a team had inspected the ATM kiosk and a report would be submitted soon.
