Venugoplababu, one of the two Janata Dal (Secular) workers who were assaulted near Hogalagere in Srinivasapur taluk on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Tuesday night.
JD(S) leaders have charged that Congress workers were responsible for the attack.
Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the area as a precautionary measure.
