Dr. Rao later made a presentation on the developments that had taken place in the institute in the last five years.
‘No specific reason'
Speaking to The Hindu , Dr. Rao said there was no specific reason for the Assam Chief Minister's visit.
As Mr. Gogoi was in Bangalore, he wanted to see the developments at the institute.
Mr. Gogoi had visited the CFTRI earlier, when he was Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industry.
Dr. Rao said Mr. Gogoi suggested that more work be done to prevent malnutrition in children as well as food losses. Mr. Gogoi also saw the food preparation machines, including the dosa-making machine, developed by the institute.
He spent around one-and-a-half hours at the institute visiting the facilities and interacting with the scientists.
