With Kampli MLA Suresh Babu admitting his role in the sensational cash-for-bail scam and spilling the beans, the Badava Shramika Raitha (BSR) Congress chief B. Sriramulu is now a troubled man.

Mr. Suresh Babu had confessed to the Anti-Corruption Bureau that he, along with G. Somashekar Reddy and an associate Dasharath Ram Reddy, got the funds to bribe judge T. Pattabhi Rama Rao as per the instructions of Mr. Sriramulu.

He said he passed on the bribe money of Rs. 20 crore to Yadagiri, a rowdy sheeter, under instructions from Mr. Sriramulu.

He also admitted that he met Mr. Janardhan Reddy several times in prison, and promised to get him bail. He confessed that on April 24, 2012, Mr. Sriramulu, informed him that one R. Surya Prakash Babu knew some judges in Hyderabad and was ready to help in securing bail for Mr. Janardhan Reddy.

Mr. Suresh Babu said Mr. Surya Prakash called him on May 3, and said he knew K. Lakshmi Narasimha Rao (suspended judge) and D. Prabhakara Rao (suspended judge) who were batchmates of T. Pattabhi Rama Rao.

He then came to Hyderabad and stayed in Mr. Janardhan Reddy’s guesthouse when Mr. Somashekar informed him that the bail arguments would be submitted on May 7and case posted to May 11.

He also told him that Yadagiri was ready to arrange a meeting with the son of Mr. Pattabhi Rama Rao, who by then had agreed to grant bail. Yadagiri demanded Rs. 20 crore and Mr. Somashekar agreed with the deal.

On May 11, Mr. Janardhan Reddy got bail and Mr. Somashekar paid Rs. 9.5 crore to Yadagiri. The next day he went to Hyderabad on the request of Mr. Somashekar, along with sureties, and they were introduced to the advocate clerk Ranga Reddy and surety formalities were completed by Aditya, a junior lawyer.

He confessed that, when he came to know that the CBI had taken up investigation in the case, he threw away his cellphone and SIM card.

Mr. Sriramulu, who is in Madikeri, told reporters that his advocates were examining the case and he would respond on their advice.
