Army sepoy falls from running train near Gangolli, dies

A soldier (sepoy) working for the Indian Army fell from a running train between Senapura and Bijoor on Sunday. He later died in a hospital in Manipal.

The Gangolli police said the station master of Senapura railway station B.T. Nayak told the police that an unidentified person was found injured on the railway track between Senapura and Bijoor villages around 6.15 a.m. He was taken to the Government Hospital, Kundapur and later shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal, where he died around 11.30 a.m.

The deceased’s identity card said revealed that he was a soldier in Indian Army and his name was Sukhwinder Singh (40). The police have contacted his family members in Punjab. They are expected to reach Manipal on Monday. A postmortem would be conducted after the family members arrive. A case of unnatural death had been registered at Gangolli police station.
