Col. Virk said applications were not required for the posts of soldier. But, for the posts of havildar education, the recruitment would be only through application and it would be held on May 7.

Deputy Commissioner P.S. Vastrad said he would depute officers from the Revenue Department to assist the Army officials in certifying the caste documents of the candidates (which will be in Kannada) when Col. Virk said the documents were required to be in English.

Col. Virk said about 3,000 candidates were expected to attend the rally.
