The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has received nearly 5,000 applications from party workers for the posts of chairman and member or director of various government boards and corporations.

Meanwhile, the Bangalore urban district unit of the KPCC on Friday urged committee president G. Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not to appoint anyone who worked against the party in the recent Assembly elections to party or government posts.

In a press release, the party media spokesman said 10 MLAs from the city, Block Congress Committee presidents and other office-bearers attended a meeting and passed nine resolutions. The spokesman said all the MLAs resolved to enrol at least 25,000 members in each Assembly constituency and carryout campaign on popular measures implemented by the Siddaramaiah government. Unit president and MLA S.T. Somasekkhar presided over the meeting. KPCC vice-president B.L. Shankar spoke.
