Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday inaugurated a programme that aims to build and distribute one lakh houses for the poor and homeless in the city, each year.

“We will build buildings on 1,200 acres of government land and distribute it to the poor. The family should not own a house in the city; should have lived here for at least five years, and their annual income must be less than ₹87,000 to be eligible for allotment of houses under the scheme,” he said. The government will spend ₹5.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh to build each of these houses.Applications can be filed at Bangalore One centres.
