Another farmer committed suicide by hanging in his farm at Dindaguru in Channarayapatna taluk on Wednesday. Marige Gowda (55) was found hanging in the morning. He has left behind his wife and two sons.
He was looking after produce in the land, registered in his brother’s name, and had cultivated banana. He was deeply disturbed as the crop attracted a disease, causing him huge loss. His son had borrowed Rs. 84,000 as loan from a bank and invested in the land. Marige Gowda had also borrowed up to Rs. 3 lakh for his agriculture activities.
Taluk officers reached the village and took details of the farmer’s loan. Channarayapatna police have registered a case. Since April 1 this year as many as 12 farmers have committed suicide in Hassan district.
