G. Nagendra Sharma, social activist from the Bhrushtachara Virodi Andolana Samiti, Mysore, took out a padayatra on Thursday to garner support for anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare.

Dressed as Anna Hazare and carrying the national flag, Mr. Sharma took out a padayatra through the thoroughfares of the city.

Reeling out the scams during the UPA government, he said these spoke of the large-scale unethical practices and corruption prevalent at the Centre.

It was unfortunate that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had remained silent on the most recent controversy involving the Central Bureau of Investigation, when even the Supreme Court had pulled up the government for having failed to ensure functional autonomy of the body, he added.
