An attempt to fool people, says Mamata

: West Bengal Chief Minister and former Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee described the proposals mooted in the Railway Budget 2015 as an attempt to fool the people.

“They have already hiked the rail fare after coming to power. With the decrease in diesel price six to seven times in the last one year, the fare should have been decreased too,” Ms Banerjee said, adding that by taking credit for not hiking the fair, the Government is trying to fool the people.

She also pointed out that there is no specific allocation for railway projects in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress referred to the increase in freight and said it will have an impact on the prices of essential commodities.

“There is no mention of Metro Railway projects in the Annexure of the Rail Budget 2015,” a statement issued by the party said.

“What kind of Railway Budget will I call it where there is no announcement of new trains,”

Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly and member of polit Bureau of CPI (M) Surjya Kanta Mishra said.

He pointed out that hiking of railway fares in the Budget is no relief to people as these days fares are revised without making provisions for them in the Budget.
