Ambedkar’s contribution recalled

People’s representatives and district administration officers paid tribute to B.R. Ambedkar, on the occasion of his death anniversary, here on Friday.

They garlanded a statue of Ambedkar on the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.

H.S. Prakash, Hassan MLA, recalled Ambedkar’s contributions for the uplift of Dalits. He said there was a need for everyone to work towards realising his dream by following his teachings. He fought throughout his life against untouchability and inequality in society, the MLA added.

“It is sad that even today, the fight is not over. The present generation has to continue the fight,” he said.

Among those present on the occasion were Ambika Ramanna, Hassan zilla panchayat president; H.N. Gopala Krishna, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Ravi D. Channanavar, Superintendent of Police; and Upendra Pratap Singh, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer.
