Actor M.H. Ambareesh has said he will work towards resolving the Cauvery waters row, which has greatly affected the farmers in Mandya.
Speaking to presspersons at the Raj Bhavan before he was sworn in as Minister, the actor, who posed for photographers with his actor-wife Sumalatha, said that he would function successfully as a Minister, now.
Mr. Ambareesh, who was Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, said Karnataka might get more financial support from the Centre as the Congress headed the United Progressive Alliance government.
Mr. Ambareesh, who represents Mandya in the Assembly, also participated in the agitation in Mandya district when the Bharatiya Janata Party government released water to Tamil Nadu on the directions of the Supreme Court.
Baburao Chinchanasur, Shivaraj Tangadagi, Sharan Prakash Patil and M.B. Patil tried to touch the feet of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, but he dissuaded them. G. Ramakrishna, elected from Gulbarga Rural, who came to the Raj Bhavan hoping to be inducted into the Ministry, looked upset.
