They say health is wealth. A group of women entrepreneurs in the city is now selling healthy food items, mainly salads, under the banner of ‘Leaves N Loaves’. Their idea is to provide employment to educated unemployed women and promote a healthy lifestyle.

The group comprises Radha, Smitha, nutritionist Nandini Murthy and a few other unemployed women. Leaves N Loaves provides various kinds of sandwiches as well, all prepared under the guidance of an in-house dietician.

Ms. Radha and Ms. Smitha told The Hindu that the salads are carefully conceptualised and passionately prepared to delight the taste buds of customers and keep them fit at the same time. The salads usually include brown bread and garlic bread with a bit of olive oil.

The women say they have tied up with a few agencies that supply them organic vegetables every day.

Saying this was a first-of-its-kind venture in the State, Ms. Radha said customers can sign up for daily, weekly, monthly and annual plans. She said their little startup was triggered by the lack of health food delivery groups in Mysuru.

Ms. Smitha said salads are a healthy way to get adequate nutrition and manage weight. Though many people know the value of eating salad, they usually don’t as it doesn’t have an exciting taste, she said. At Leaves N Loaves, the women will change the dressing every day to keep the menu interesting.

The women have a panel of women employees who can deliver the salads within 10 minutes. The products were launched on Friday. To order, call 99865 86464 or 89700 50330.
