All anganwadi centres in the State will have toilets by June 2014, the State government told the Karnataka High Court on Monday.
Advocate-General Ravivarma Kumar told a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice B.V. Nagarathna that all basic infrastructure, except permanent buildings, would be made available to the anganwadi centres by June next year.
Timeframe
He also submitted that the State government would require time to come out with a timeframe for implementing the recommendations of a committee, constituted by the High Court under the chairmanship of judge N.K. Patil, on issues pertaining to malnutrition.
Advocate Clifton D’Rozario, who is amicus curiae , told the Bench that 37,531 anganwadi centres of the 64,518 do not have toilets. In Bangalore Urban, 2,097 anganwadi centres do not have toilets.
