Alert driver saves lives of 30 passengers as bus catches fire near Hassan

A private bus carrying passengers from Mangaluru to Bengaluru was gutted in a fire near Hassan early morning on Wednesday. An alert driver succeeded in saving the lives of 30 passengers by stopping the vehicle as soon as he noticed sparks and forcing them to get down the vehicle.

The incident happened around 4 am when the passengers were in deep sleep. The driver noticed sparks in the rear wheel as the vehicle was near Kenchattahalli on National Highway 75.

Technical snag is said to be the reason for the fire.
