All India Congress Committee (AICC) has directed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) to constitute a coordination committee to ensure a healthy relation between the government and the party.
Disclosing this to presspersons here on Thursday, KPCC president G. Parameshwara said that the party high command would decide how the committee should be set up, including its head and the number of members.
“There is a direction to form such committees at the district level too, headed by District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and district in-charge Ministers,” Dr. Parameshwara said.
Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi has issued a direction to organise the DCC and Block Congress committees in view of the Lok Sabha elections, he added.
Dr. Parameshwara, who chaired a meeting of DCC presidents and observers appointed in 28 parliamentary constituencies in the State to prepare the party for the Lok Sabha elections, said that the observers would visit the constituencies allotted to them and submit names of three probable candidates, besides a report on the party’s position.
“The observers have been directed to submit ‘confidential reports’ on the party situation in the constituencies, the strength of the opponents and the opinion of the people about the Congress in the area,” he said.
